The dooryard burning suspension will continue until formally cancelled by CAL FIRE. Dooryard burn permits will not be issued and dooryard burning is not allowed during this period of time.

Each year CAL FIRE responds to nearly 1,600 fires started by Californians using equipment the wrong way.
Whether working to create a defensible space around your home, just mowing the lawn, or pulling your dirt bike over to the side of the road, if you live in a wildland area you need to use all equipment responsibly. Lawn mowers, weedeaters, chain saws, grinders, welders, tractors, and trimmers can all spark a wildland fire.

Lassen National Forest has prohibited motorized cross country travel with a temporary forest order.
Forest Supervisor Kathleen Morse has issued a Decision Memo extending the Temporary Forest Order that prohibits cross country motorized wheeled vehicle travel across the Lassen National Forest.
The Order limits use of motorized wheeled vehicles to the existing routes and open areas shown on the maps that accompany the Order.
The extension of the Temporary Forest Order takes effect on July 13th.
The new Temporary Forest Order remains unchanged from the previous one.

According to Morse, "It is very important to understand the purpose of the Order. It’s designed to keep motorized wheeled vehicle use on existing roads and trails to prevent resource damage and the creation of new routes while the Travel Management process is being completed."
The Lassen National Forest is currently rolling out a Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) as part of the Travel Management process. The DEIS has proposed a designated system for motorized vehicle use that provides forest access and loop opportunities for motorized vehicles while preventing resource damage. Copies of the Forest Order, maps, and related documents are available on the Forest's website at: http://www.fs.fed.us/r5/lassen.
Paper copies of maps displaying open routes are also available at Lassen National Forest offices in Susanville, Chester, Fall River Mills, and Old Station. More detailed maps of open routes may be found and printed from the Forest’s website or viewed during an open house on June 25th at Jensen Hall at the Lassen County Fairgrounds from 2:30 to 7:00 p.m. The public is encouraged to access the Lassen National Forest website for current information on the entire Travel Management planning effort. The Forest began the environmental analysis to designate routes last fall.
