The Susanville Indian Rancheria will be holding their 16th annual Powwow June 20th, 21st and 22nd, on the softball field at Lassen Community College, featuring three days of dancing, storytelling, artwork, crafts, tasty food and more.
The annual event is a wonderful way to experience Native American culture and the public is welcome to attend.
Thousands of dollars in cash prizes are waiting for the best dancers in several categories including Fast Fancy and Crow Hop Men vs Women 18 and older.
Host Drum for the event are Red Spirit from Roosevelt, Utah.
Head Woman is Thomiscita Mountain Sheep from Fort Hall Idaho and Head Man is Gary Olney from White Swan, Washington. The arena director will be Jack Williams.
The event MC will be Thomas Morning Owl from Pilot Rock, Oregon.
The first Grand Entry of the weekend, with its colorful dancing and music, is Friday at 7:00p.m.
On Saturday there will be two Grand Entries – one at 1:00p.m. and another at 7:00. On Sunday the Grand Entry is at 1:00.
