Rounding out our inductees into the 2024 Lassen County Hall of Fame our fourth inductee is no stranger to most of you. In fact – we have never met anyone that isn’t a friend of Mr. Brandon Pratt.
Brandon has been known to serve Lassen County in many ways. He spent most of his career as a California Highway Patrol Officer right here in the Susanville Area. During that time he was the strongest advocate for keeping the 140 Squad Club going strong and making sure that they were available to serve the 4-H and FFA kids and families during the Lassen County Fair.
Brandon grew up here and has raised two beautiful daughters, Peyton and Avarie, in our community that both have been involved in the Lassen County 4-H Program.
Brandon also participated in Lassen Family Services Dancing for a Brand New Me which helps raise awareness about Domestic Violence and helps provide support for local domestic violence survivors.
When Brandon was a 4-H member he showed pigs. One fond memory his Mom, Dalene, shared was that when he used to sing the star spangled banner to his pigs. Each time Brandon would sing the pig would come lay down on his back for Brandon to scratch it’s belly.
She said the pig would normally just be going about his business but would do this every time Brandon started singing to it. He was learning it for school and took the time to practice while he was working with his animal project.
Another fond memory was that Brandon won second place once at the fair and thought he was done showing so he put his cane (show stick) away and came back to the ring to watch. His companions frantically found him and told him he had to “hurry up and come back in the ring!” Brandon did make his return to the ring but forgot his cane and nobody would give him one.
As if the pig agreed with Brandon and wanted to leave the animal ran straight towards the judge and gave him a ride around the ring on his back. Needless to say Brandon has always been a comical character!
Brandon, without all the years you’ve contributed to Lassen County, we are not sure what our fair weeks would have been like. Your devotion to your community has not gone unnoticed.
It’s an honor, Mr. Pratt, to induct you as our final member into the Lassen County
4-H Hall of Fame Class of 2024.
