A SusanvilleStuff Feature
by Melissa Blosser
The 20th annual Lassen Land and Trails Trust’s Paiute Meadows Trail events at Susanville Ranch Park are slated for this Saturday, May 18th. There’s something for everyone, from the one-mile kids trail-run and senior’s walk to a two-mile run and walk, the perennial 4.7-mile run and new this year, a seven mile and 14.5-mile bike challenge.
The Paiute Meadows Trail events provide an opportunity to enjoy and discover our world-class trails in Lassen County. The events encourage physical activity and well-being for all ages and the proceeds from the events also help Lassen Land and Trails Trust continue to enhance, improve and promote the region’s trails.
Each of the courses offers varied terrain and pass along a creek, through a beautiful meadow and ponderosa pine forest. There are awards for overall and age-groups, as well as randomly drawn raffle prizes for participants. Lunch will be available for purchase.
Lassen Land and Trails Trust, a non-profit member supported organization, actively works to conserve significant natural areas and working landscapes and to promote and enhance a system of leading public trails in northeastern California—where the Sierra Nevada, Cascade, Modoc Plateau and the Great Basin converge, a unique region rich in agricultural heritage, wildlife and scenic vistas.
The Trust’s work, including the Paiute Meadows Trail events, is accomplished through the support of generous and committed donors and volunteers, including members of the Susanville Area Bicycle Association who are assisting with this year’s new bike event.
