30th Annual Lassen County Children’s Fair This Saturday!

For three decades now the Lassen County Office of Education has presented children of Lassen County with a special day all their own, a low-cost and family friendly event held each May at the fairgrounds. And while 30-years is quite a long haul for any local event to stay fresh and exciting, each year more and more children visit the Children’s Fair, more groups and organizations participate and parents who visited the fair as children return to treat their own children to the experience.

In 2014, according to Children’s Fair Coordinator James Hall, the fair attracted more than 10,000 people of all ages who enjoyed nifty games, live entertainment, youth activities and low cost food.

Hall explains that the purpose of the fair is, “to provide an opportunity for families to spend a pleasant day together that will hopefully reduce tobacco, substance, and child abuse within Lassen County.”

“As we celebrate,” says Hall, “we have added some fun new events. Our newest additions will be our STEAM Exploratorium and the School and Student Showcase.”

The Exploratorium will allow students to participate in hands-on Science Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math activities.

The new Student Showcase is an opportunity for schools and students to showcase the great things that are being done in Lassen County schools.

The Children’s Fair is intended to be a benefit to the community and not a profit-making opportunity.

Along with fun and games there will also be static vehicle displays, walk around characters and live entertainment.

Admission is free and the Children’s Fair is open this Saturday from 10:00a.m. until 4:00p.m. at the Lassen County Fairgrounds, 195 Russell Ave in Susanville.
