Lassen County Behavioral Health and the Lassen County Veterans Service Office, in partnership with the American Legion and various veteran-centered agencies, have announced that their 3rd Annual Veterans Stand Down, a vital community event for local veterans, will take place this Saturday, April 18th, from 9:00a.m. to 3:00p.m. at the Veterans Memorial Hall on Main Street.
The Stand Down is designed to be a comprehensive “one-stop shop,” allowing local veterans to access a wide range of essential resources in one central location. Attendees will find extensive support from VA Programs and Services, including healthcare for homeless veterans, suicide prevention programs, and enrollment assistance.
Federal and regional representatives will be on-site to discuss telehealth services, the Whole Health Program, and Veterans Justice Outreach, alongside members from the Veterans Benefits Administration and a mobile medical unit.
In addition to federal support, several County and Regional Agencies will be present, including the Lassen and Plumas County Veterans Service Offices, Lassen County Behavioral Health, and the California Department of Veterans Affairs.
Community and veteran organizations such as the American Legion, Blue Star Mothers, Warriors Hope Ranch, and the Veterans Guest House will also be available to provide specialized assistance and networking opportunities.
The event features a diverse array of Services and Supports from local partners like the Susanville Indian Rancheria, Banner Medical Center, and the Depot Barbershop. Veterans can also connect with representatives from New Dawn Treatment Centers, Patriot PowerUp and various real estate and mortgage professionals to discuss housing and grants.
To ensure the best experience, veterans are highly encouraged to bring their DD 214 documentation. While event parking is located at Lassen High School, limited transportation may be available for veterans living in outlying areas of the county; those requiring a ride should call Behavioral Health for more information.
