Standish and Dyer Mountain 4-H hosted Favorite Foods Day on November 16th at Westwood Community Center. The special categories were fudge, cornbread, and miracle meal with ground beef.

There were 29 members who attended Favorite Foods Day. After arriving we set up our place settings and got ready to serve the judges our food.

When the judges finished judging we enjoyed a potluck with the exhibitor’s favorite foods. Awards were given and the winners of each category were announced. It was a very successful day! – Layton Allen

This community is alive with holiday cheer! Lake 4-H recently helped the Salvation Army with their Thanksgiving deliveries for families in need by packing boxes of food.

Milford 4-H got to see the completed construction of Milford Fire Departments water filling line that they purchased supplies for!

Many Christmas festivities are approaching quickly such as the Lassen County Festival of Lights starts December 6th and the Janesville Parade of Lights. The Magical Country Christmas parade and tree lightings is another upcoming event that gives the opportunity to show your Christmas spirit and support 4-H.

Additionally, bell ringing for the Salvation Army is available to sign up for and is a great way to spread cheer and help others in need.

Let’s talk about some upcoming 4-H events. On January 26th there is Home Arts Extravaganza, hosted by Thompson Peak and South County 4-H Clubs. This is a very enjoyable function filled with activities such as cooking, sewing, gun cleaning, and many more! Presentation Day will be held in February and Lassen County 4-H will be the host of Regional Presentation Day in March. – Paiton Hallmark

Members are busy in Lassen County with eight new Countywide projects. These new projects are Horse, Fly Fishing, Public Speaking, Dairy, Drama, Quilting, Rifle, and Shotgun.

These projects were opened this year and are available to all Lassen County 4-H members.

The Rifle and Shotgun projects do have age restrictions though to join. Rifle members must be nine or older (by December 31) and Shotgun members must be eleven or older (by December 31).

The Dog project is not a new project, and new members are always welcome. Some projects have already started, but it’s not too late to join. Contact Sandy Fortin, 4-H Program Representative at (530)251-8285 or look in the Lassen County 4-H Roundup for more information. – Russell Mallery

2025 4-H Camp Update! Camp plans are underway! The Lassen County 4-H Ambassadors are busy securing plans for the 2025 Camp. Camp is scheduled for April 13th through the 15th, 2025.

We are planning for three days of fun with arts, culture, motivational speakers, games and fellowship for all ages. We can’t pull this off alone so we are reaching out to many local agencies, leaders and mentors to help us bring you an inspiring and memorable camp experience for everyone.

Ambassadors are meeting monthly to finalize camp plans and will have specific information available soon. Please mark your calendars for April 13-15 if you have children between the ages of 5 and 18.

A thank you thus far to the Lassen County Arts Council for their commitment and support as we begin the camp planning process. – Samantha Medvin
