Phew, we survived the longest month of the year, and it only took us two years (haha).
Lassen County 4-H is in full swing as countywide events and projects get off to their big start.
On January 16th every Club Treasurer from Lassen County attended the training and performed their mid-year peer review to make sure that our club’s accounting is in tip top shape.
Treasurers have one of the most difficult jobs in the 4-H program.
On January 26th Thompson Peak and South County 4-H Clubs hosted a very well attended Home Arts Extravaganza where members rotated through crafts and arts workshops at Jensen Hall. We would like to thank the leaders and parent volunteers that made that possible.
If you’re a 4-H member in the market beef project, make sure that you write down March 2nd on your calendar so that you can get your steers tagging in at the Lassen County Fairgrounds! Official weights will be taken at that time.
Remember that for your safety and everyone else’s your steers have to be halter broken and you must be able to lead them to and from the trailer.
Milford 4-H will be hosting their annual Valentines for Veterans program again this year. If you have a loved one that has served in the armed forces, please reach out to them so they can send or deliver one to your special loved one.
February 23rd will be Lassen County 4-H Presentation Day held at Lassen County Fairgrounds. This event is for members to have the opportunity to give a presentation, demonstration, illustrated talk, speech or skit in front of a crowd that includes 2-3 judges.
They are given constructive feedback and awarded green, blue or gold stars with the opportunity to advance to the Regional Presentation Day if the score a blue or gold here locally. This is a huge asset to our program as it helps members with their public speaking skills.
4-H Camp planning is in full swing! You might have seen our flyers hanging around town or posted on social media!
Camp Registration is open from now until March 15th, 2025! It is open to ALL youth ages 5-18. If your child was enrolled in 4-H already the cost for camp is $25.00. If they are not a current 4-H member and want to come to camp, they just have to pay an additional fee of $33.50 which allows them to be a temporary 4-H member during 4-H Camp only.
We are seeking Camp Counselors that are current 4-H members, 7th grade or older, to help us facilitate camp and make it a fun group experience. If you’re interested in applying, please contact the Lassen County 4-H Office.
You can find more information, including a tentative camp schedule, on Facebook under Lassen County 4-H or you can call (530)310-6882 for more information.
Have a great February!
