5.7 Quake Shakes Northern California: Centered Near Canyon Dam

UPDATED 9:47p.m. As of 9:45 northeastern California has experienced 19 aftershocks ranging in magnitude from 1.0 to 2.7

UPDATED 9:16p.m. the Lassen County Sheriff’s Office is confirming that there is no reported damage in Lassen County at this time.

The earthquake was felt as far south as the bay area and into Oregon. It has also been downgraded to a 5.7 by the USGS.

Susanville and the Honey Lake Valley residents were shaken by an earthquake at around 8:50 this evening measuring 5.9 according to preliminary estimates by the USGS.

The earthquake was centered near 27 miles southwest of Susanville and 7 miles west of Greenville near the town of Canyon Damm
