There is something special about spring in our small town whether it’s watching a baseball game under the lights, driving a few miles out of town to see a new lamb, walking to church, seeing our teenagers headed to prom or enjoying a community activity together.
Susanville is filled with the smell of spring. Our fruit trees are blooming, spring bulbs are out and the lilacs are starting to show up around town. The wildflowers will soon be seen all around us, and our waterways will fill with runoff from our mountain tops.
Diamond Mountain Golf Course is open and ready for another great season.
City staff is working to make the Susan River Trail clean and safe, and the Bizz Johnson Trail is already beginning to get busy.
The City of Susanville partners with the Lassen County Sportsmen Club to host the annual Junior fishing derby on May 16th. This event gives our children (under 16 years of age) a day to fish the Susan River before it opens for general fishing.
If you still want to see some snow, Lassen Volcanic National Park usually has plenty this time of year. Spring at the park can mean certain areas are closed depending on the snowpack but there are always beautiful areas to visit.
Enjoy our spring season in Susanville.
