AAA of Northern California Contributes 5,000 Dollars to Promote Local Fire Safety

AAA Insurance Agent Bob Phelps and Business Manager John Forayter present Susanville Volunteer Fire Department Treasurer Bruce Rummel with a check for $5000 to help make sure homes in our community have smoke detectors.

AAA of Northern California is reaching out to the community by partnering with local  first responders through the American Red Cross to promote fire safety. On Wednesday the insurance agency contributed 5,000 dollars to the Susanville Volunteer Fire Department.

Some of the money is being used to purchase smoke detectors, Walmart gave them a great deal and they have approximately 100 of the devices on-hand. The detectors help protect property which in turn means lower insurance rates. Other funds are earmarked for education and awareness.

Bruce Rummel, Treasurer for the volunteer fire department thanked AAA for the generous grant.

“It is the priority of the Susanville Volunteer Fire Department to ensure that the citizens of Susanville are well protected from fires in their homes,” said Rummel, “The partnership between AAA and the Susanville Volunteer Fire Department will help ensure the continued safety of our community.”
