Hello there! I’m Samwise, a 4-year-old All-American good boy with a heart that just needs a little time to shine.
I’ve been here at the shelter longer than most, but the staff are still learning all my best qualities every day, and trust me, I’ve got plenty. I walk nicely on a leash with my friends from Jackie Earnshaw’s Sit Spot volunteers, and once I get to know you, I’m happy to show off my “sit” and “down” skills (I just like to make sure you’re worth the effort first). I can be a little reserved at the start, but give me some time and I’ll warm up into a loyal companion.
I don’t seem to mind the shelter cats, and when it comes to other dogs… well, I’ll admit I’ve got a soft spot for the ladies. The staff think I’d do best with a female dog friend in my forever home.
If you’re patient, kind, and willing to let me open up at my own pace, I promise I’ll be worth it. I’ve been waiting for my chance, maybe you’re the one I’ve been hoping for.
Featured animals at the Lassen County Animal Shelter are available for adoption on a first-come-first-serve basis. According to California law, all adoptable dogs and cats must be spayed and neutered before leaving our facility. If interested in adopting an animal, please contact the shelter directly.
