UPDATE McCoy was Adopted

McCoy

Big, sweet McCoy came to us all the way from Sacramento! And it’s safe to say this was his first time ever seeing snow.

When Sacramento County Animal Care reached out for help with the growing number of dogs at their facility (at the time they had over 185), Lassen County Animal Shelter knew they had to help; even if they could only pull a handful of dogs at a time. With multiple agencies and rescues lending a helping hand, a difference is being made for the dogs at Sacramento County Animal Care. And we can see that in action with McCoy!

McCoy arrived at the Sacramento shelter as a stray.

According to Sacramento staff, McCoy LOVES people. He’s dog social and did best when he was paired up with another canine friend.

Upon settling into the Lassen County Animal Shelter, McCoy showed off his skill set. He knows ‘sit’, ‘shake’, and ‘speak’. Not bad, McCoy!

He’s big, loud, very playful, and has the most adorable lop-sided ears; this handsome boy is looking for a new family to call his own. Older children may be more suitable for McCoy, only due to the fact that he doesn’t necessarily understand just how big he is.

McCoy is about 2 years old, UTD on his vaccinations, neutered, and microchipped. If interested in meeting McCoy, or other adoptable animals, please call shelter staff at (530) 257-9200.

Featured animals at the Lassen County Animal Shelter are available for adoption on a first-come-first-serve basis. According to California law, all adoptable dogs and cats must be spayed and neutered before leaving our facility. If interested in adopting an animal, please contact the shelter directly.

Current shelter hours during the COVID-19 pandemic are Monday through Friday, 9:00a.m. to 3:00p.m. Closed Saturday and Sunday. You can contact the shelter at 257-9200.
