Agenda: Susanville City Council to Discuss New Love’s Travel Stop Annexation Wednesday

The Susanville City Council is scheduled to meet this Wednesday, April 15th, for a regular session packed with high-priority items ranging from public safety leadership to the major commercial development planned for the area just east of Susanville.

The meeting will kick off at 4:30p.m. at City Hall, beginning with a closed session to discuss the employment of Susanville’s Public Safety Chief. The council will reconvene for the public portion of the meeting at 5:00p.m.

Major Highlights on the Agenda
Love’s Travel Stop and Annexation
One of the most significant items on the docket is the proposed Love’s Travel Stop. The council will consider Resolution No. 26-6533, which initiates the annexation of the project site (APN 107-280-017) and the adjacent right-of-way along State Route 36 into city limits. This follows a Planning Commission recommendation to certify the Final Environmental Impact Report and redesignate the land for commercial use.

Public Safety and Infrastructure
Fire Station Upgrades: The council is expected to award a bid to All Season Heating and Air Inc. for the 2026 HVAC Renovation at the Susanville Fire Station.

Golf Course Maintenance: A budget increase of $5,000 is requested for the replacement of a pressure relief valve at the city golf course.

Natural Gas: Resolution 26-6529 seeks to authorize the release of Tuscarora pipeline capacity to IGI Resources through 2029, streamlining the city’s energy asset management.

Nuisance Abatement and Code Enforcement
The City continues its “clean-up” efforts with several resolutions aimed at property maintenance. The council will vote on upholding administrative citations for 602 Main Street, recording a lien for unpaid penalties at 1101 Arnold Street, and confirming abatement costs for 17 Orange Street.

Administrative Updates
As part of the Consent Calendar, the council will consider a 2.68% salary matrix increase for the Administrative Bargaining Unit, set to take effect this July.

Agenda

The next regular meeting is scheduled for May 6th. For those unable to attend in person, documents and reports are available on the City’s website at www.cityofsusanville.gov.
