Alecia Anne Dowdy was born on November 23, 1963, to George and Shanna Fink in Las Vegas Nevada. She returned to her eternal home on July 20, 2022.
Alecia grew up in many places around the country because the family moved around. She was a happy child and loved life. She loved her family and had many friends that she loved to spend time with. She was creative often doing poetry. She graduated from Antelope Valley High School in Lancaster California attended Antelope Valley Community College and received a nursing degree.
In 1984 Alecia met the love of her life and eternal companion Alan in Lancaster California. Three months later they were married in a union that would last for 35 years. In 1986 their first child was born and shortly thereafter they moved to Susanville California. Their second child was born in 1988 with their third in 1990 completing their small family. Alecia had a career as a nurse that she left when their daughter was born to raise her children. Alecia was a devoted mother and rarely missed any activity that her children were involved in. Alecia was a devout member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She served in many roles in her church. Her most treasured role was working with the young women. She influenced the lives of many young women in a positive manner.
Alecia had a lifelong passion for quilting, and she enjoyed making quilts for many children when they were born. She took pride in her quilting and would spend untold hours quilting with her friends. On family trips she would find any and all quilt shops on the route and insist on stopping to shop and would usually not leave until she found a “fat quarter” that she had to have.
Alecia was preceded in death by her loving husband of 35 years Alan Dowdy in 2020. She also joins her parents George and Shanna Fink. She leaves behind her brother Kelly Fink (Bekki) of Janesville, her sister Denise Hedlund (Jens) of Vineyard Ut, Her sons Bryce Dowdy (Jaime) of Moulton AL, Kelly Dowdy of Williston ND, and Daughter Megan Rice (Jeremy) of Lilburn GA. She also leaves behind her grandchildren who she loved dearly David, Jordan, Brystal, Austin, And Brett as well as numerous nieces and nephews and many dear friends that she loved deeply.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 28th, 2022 at 10:00 am at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints 905 Richmond road in Susanville with a graveside ceremony to follow.
Alecia loved flowers and the family welcomes all flower donations for her services.
