Almanor Boat Launch Removal and Campground Closures

Shallow water conditions are prompting Lassen National Forest officials to remove the boarding float at the Almanor boat launch, located within the Almanor Ranger District.

Signs have been placed at the site advising recreationists of the pending removal. Crews expect to remove the float sometime on or after September 24th. The float will be returned when water levels make it safe to do so.

The boarding float at the Canyon Dam boat launch will remain available for use.

Also in Almanor Ranger District news, some campgrounds have recently closed for the season and others will close soon. Silver Bowl and Rocky Knoll campgrounds closed on September 10th. Warner closed on September 17th.

Gurnsey Creek Campground is closed, but will re-open only for hunting season from September 18th – 28th. Elam, Alder, Potato Patch, Butte Meadows, Cherry Hill, Hole in the Ground, High Bridge and Domingo Springs campgrounds are set to close September 30th.

For more information regarding recreation facilities on the Almanor Ranger District, please contact Michelle Ahearn, Recreation Officer, at 530-258-2141.
