Susanville resident Mindie Hilton was recently named one of 60 semifinalists in the 46th annual National Pillsbury Bake-Off Contest.
Hilton who says baking is relaxing, and enjoys how it brings her family together.
“I find cooking and baking to be relaxing and it’s a way for me to unwind after a long day,” said Hilton.”Cooking and baking for my family is something I will never grow tired of and it brings us all closer together.”
“I believe every family should have at least a few homemade sit down family meals together each week.”
Hilton was selected as a semifinalist in the Doable Dinners category for her recipe Bacon Asian Orange Chicken Pizza and needs our votes to send her to the finals to compete for $1 million in dough.
“I believe my recipe Bacon Asian Orange Chicken Pizza is worthy of winning because it truly tackles the Doable Dinner category with success,” said Hilton. “In 25 minutes my recipe can be prepared and brought to your family table and it combines two common and loved take-out recipes, pizza, and orange chicken. It’s unique and delicious, and approachable by the most inexperienced cook. That’s the beauty of Pillsbury products, you don’t have to be a skilled baker or cook to use them.”
For the first time in the history of the Bake-Off Contest, America will determine which of the semifinalist recipes will vie for the grand prize. Those 100 finalists will compete at the Bake-Off Contest finals, November 10th-12th, 2013, at the Aria Resort & Casino in Las Vegas.Voting is open on BakeOff.com and Mindie needs your votes! Mindie needs your help to make it to the next round to compete for a chance to win the $1 million grand prize. The Pillsbury Bake-Off Contest is one of the most iconic competition in the United States. It originated in 1949, with the first competition at the Waldorf Astoria in New York City.
New this year, to encourage simpler, original recipes, submissions including Hilton’s were limited to seven or fewer ingredients and must take 30 minutes or less to prepare, not including baking or cooling time. For more information, go to www.BakeOff.com.
“I have been so touched by community involvement and support of my dreams,” said Hilton. “Dreamed it yes, believed it no, because you try and create a unique recipe, one that will stand out and his is not an easy task with a competition that has been going on for decades.”
