In a follow-up to an earlier story we ran here on SusanvilleStuff we have good news to report, this last week Banner Lassen Medical Center presented Lassen Land and Trails Trust with a $5,000 donation to support the Bizz Johnson extension project.
“Trails play an important role in the wellness of all who live in our community,” said Catherine Harshbarger, Chief Executive Officer of Banner Lassen. “We at Banner Lassen work to make a difference in people’s lives through excellent patient care, which includes all aspects of our lives here in Lassen County. Exercise is key to everyone’s personal health and wellbeing. This project will offer so many healthy exercise options to all who live here”.
The Bizz Johnson Extension project includes a 7.1 acre acquisition which extends the historic Susanville railroad depot property and includes a portion of the rail bed, which follows from the Bizz to Alexander Road where the county’s planned Skyline extension will intersect.
On April 24 and 25, the National Park Service’s Rivers, Conservation and Trails Assistance Program team will be here in Susanville to help our community in developing and refining plans for the development of the new property and integrating it, the depot and the Bizz Johnson trailhead. Please mark your calendar for Friday, April 24, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m., for an Open House at the historic Susanville railroad depot, 601 Richmond Road to meet the National Park Service’s team and share your ideas.
