Banner Lassen Medical Center announced today that Catherine Harshbarger has accepted the role of Chief Executive Officer at the hospital effective immediately.
Harshbarger has served as interim CEO since Sept. 23rd, 2013, following the departure of former CEO Bob Edwards. She also has been the Chief Nursing Officer at Banner Lassen since 2011.
According to the hospital a search is now under way for a new CNO.
Harshbarger has more than 30 years of nursing experience, including 14 years in leadership roles. Prior to working in Susanville, she was the Director of Nursing at Ellsworth County Medical Center in Ellsworth, KS.
Harshbarger has a master’s in Health Administration and a bachelor’s degree in Nursing, both from the University of Phoenix. She has a diverse clinical and leadership background serving in acute care, home health, case management and physician clinics.
“Cathy has demonstrated exceptional skill in leading the team at Banner Lassen Medical Center in her dual role as CEO and CNO,” said Banner Health Western Region President Jim Ferando. “She has taken initiative on several projects in the community and we look forward to her continued service in Susanville.”
