Banner Lassen Medical Center is celebrating a major achievement for one of its own. Darlene Dougherty, MS, RD, LD, a medical nutrition therapist at the facility, has been named the recipient of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Lifetime Achievement Award. This is the highest honor bestowed by the organization and recognizes more than 50 years of Dougherty’s dedicated service to the field.
Dougherty, who currently serves Banner Lassen patients remotely, has made an extraordinary impact on nutrition policy, education, practice, research, and mentorship throughout her career.
Her work at the medical center involves providing expert nutrition counseling, making vital recommendations for diet and nutritional support, and helping develop policies for culinary services.
The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics selected Dougherty for her significant contributions, which have influenced generations of nutrition professionals and improved the health of countless individuals. She will be officially recognized for her lifetime of service at the 2025 Food and Nutrition Conference and Exhibition, set to take place in Nashville this October.
The Banner Lassen Medical Center community has expressed immense pride in Dougherty’s achievement and congratulates her on this well-deserved recognition.
