Firefighters arrived at the scene Monday morning to find a barn, just west of Paul Bunyan road, south of the Diamond Mountain Casino, fully engulfed. There was little crews could do but to establish a defensive perimeter to stop any extension into the surrounding vegetation.
The fire, which was sparked by an unknown cause, raced through the dry wood and completely destroyed the barn.
Firefighters from the Susanville City Fire Department were joined by crews and apparatus from Cal-Fire, Susan River Fire Protection District and Lassen’s Office of Emergency Services.
Traffic control and additional assistance at the scene were provided by officers of the Susanville Police Department.
