The Susanville Renegades traveled to Reno to play in the 19-under Muckdogs Tournament. Susanville played pretty, despite losing four of five games. They went with a young roster with many of their 17under players and playing a tough schedule. Susanville let one get away in the opener to Orland 8-6. Susanville led most of the way but gave up four runs in the top of the seventh inning on Thursday night.
On Friday morning Susanville played played another close one 5-3 losing to APS out of Walnut Creek/ Concord area. Lassen High junior pitched well but got the loss. Lassen High sophomore Hunter St Andre caught, threw out three base runners, and hit a double. Ryan Sharpe had two hits.
In the third game, Susanville a fine squandered a fine pitching effort by Garrison Collier. Collier took a three run lead into the 7th but the bullpen couldn’t hold the lead and the Renegades lost on a walk-off double, 9-8. Chase Dillon, Jarrell Cunningham, and Ryan Sharpe all homered in the sixth inning to give Susanville a three run lead.
On Saturday Susanville faced the toughest two teams the their bracket. They opened with Nor Cal Valley (Stockton/Modesto). Susanville got two runs early and held on for a 2-1 win. Ryan Sharpe pitched a great game and went the distance with some help from his defense. Sharp, Cunningham and Collier each had two hits.
On Saturday night lost to the eventual tournament winner, South Bay Legacy,6-0. Lassen High senior to be Jacob Padelford, Pitched well in a losing effort. The Renegades got only two hits by Carson Chavez and Garrison Collier.
