Big Show and Fundraiser Tonight at LCC for Ken Honea

There’s a big event going on up at Lassen College tonight including a car show, live music by the Brazilian group It’s Us and an Indian Taco dinner.

The fundraiser, which will also feature a silent auction, is to help long-time Lassen College employee Ken Honea.

Tickets for the Indian Taco dinner are $10.00 a piece and you can pick them up at Margie’s Book Nook or from Tena Rulofson at Lassen College. Tickets can also be bought at the door tonight and Indian Tacos are served in a TO GO container.

The fundraiser will run from 5:00 to 8:00 in the LCC Student Union.

Nancy Lounsbury, one of the organizers of the event, says, “We have lots of raffle prizes and silent auction items including the chance to bid on a homemade dinner with Lassen College President/Superintendent Dr. Marlon Hall and his wife Mary.”

“We have Susanville Symphony tickets for the Christmas Symphony and the February Performance donated courtesy of Ben Wade, Leslie’s Jewelry, Couso Technology and the Susanville Symphony.”

“We believe in shopping local,” says Lounsbury, “and our local businesses have donated lots of items for us to include in the baskets prepared by the employees of LCC and friends of Ken Honea. It is an outpouring of love. The items may not all be new or perfect, but a part of our heart is in every basket we have created to share our love and concern for the Honea family.”

Other raffle and silent auction items include; a Marlin 22 rifle; a basket put together by the Fire Science guys; a facial certificate and a $200 gift basket of beauty products from Bel en Vie; a gift certificate from the Lassen Ale House; hand tied jigs by Wayne Horsley; oil paintings and art by local artists; a Gunsmith Guild basket; even bags of compost and coffee grounds to enrich your roses this winter!

A multi-CD player and stereo set; gift certificates for the Lassen College Student Union; stainless steel coffee mug donated by Ace Hardware along with calendars, paint stirring sticks and yardsticks; ball caps from Susanville Ford and Payless Lumber; key chains; lumber pencils, BIG calendars from a local Bank; Christmas baskets; Fishing stuff baskets; a Red Hat basket; Cowboy movies and bull rider ball cap; several spaghetti dinner baskets including beverage, wine glasses, garlic and napkins; a tea collection basket; chocolate basket; a coffee basket. And that’s just a sampling of the neat stuff to be given away or auctioned off.

There will also be books and magazines available for a voluntary donation. There are some LIFE magazines from the 1960’s and Women’s Housekeeping magazines from the 1950’s, 60’s and 70’s. There will be a kids table with free books and kid friendly items.
