Gift Boutique and Craft Fair at Sentimental Journey

Looking for the perfect Mother’s Day gift or a little something special for yourself? Mark your calendars for a weekend of shopping, community and treats at the Sentimental Journey Gift Boutique and Craft Fair, hosted by Stacey Barnetche and Debbie Marino.

The event will take place in the charming barn at Sentimental Journey, located at 465-320 Church Street in Janesville, Saturday, May 2nd, from 10:00a.m. until 4:00p.m. and Sunday, May 3rd, from 10:00a.m. until 2:00p.m.

A Curated Shopping Experience
Whether you are searching for a sentimental Mother’s Day present or unique handmade goods, this event has something for everyone. Attendees can browse a wide variety of items from both returning favorites and brand-new vendors, including:

  • Handcrafted Goods: Jewelry, leather goods, totes, and handbags.
  • Home & Pantry: Home decor, jellies and sauces, and tallow products.
  • Specialty Items: Books, coffee, and unique treats.
  • New Arrivals: “Our vendors are working hard on new, never-seen items for our customers,” says Barnetche. “We’ve been working very hard to make this a can’t-miss event.”

Mimosas and Muffins for a Cause
While you shop, you can enjoy mimosas and muffins available for purchase. Best of all, proceeds from these refreshments will benefit a very special local non-profit dedicated to supporting children in Lassen County.

In addition to the shopping and snacks, guests can participate in a raffle for a chance to win items from the talented local artisans.

“This event is focused on gifts for Mother’s Day but will have something for everyone! See you in the Barn!” says Barnetche.

Zaengles Carpet One Floor & Home

At the east end of Susanville’s Main Street, Zaengles Carpet One Floor and Home is proving that a local business is much more than just a place to buy a sofa or new flooring. For owner Mark Zaengle and his team, every sale represents a vital opportunity to reinvest in the people and organizations that make Lassen County feel like home.

The philosophy at Zaengles is refreshingly simple: they believe in supporting the community that supports them, and they recognize that their ability to give back is entirely dependent on the loyalty of their customers.

The impact of this philosophy is staggering when you look at the long-term numbers. Over the 14 years they have served the Susanville area, Zaengles has contributed nearly half a million dollars to local causes. By facilitating upwards of 100 donations every year, Mark and his team ensure that their annual contributions – which typically range between $25,000 and $30,000 – reach as many hands as possible.

Zaengle notes that they strive to donate to every service group, club, sports organization, or charity fundraiser that walks through their door, expressing a deep sense of fortune at being in a position to help.

This spirit of generosity is constantly in motion. Zaengles has provided support to a wide variety of essential local organizations, ranging from healthcare and family resources to education and conservation. Their recent contributions have benefited Honey Lake Hospice, the Susanville Salvation Army, and Community Church, as well as Child Family Services, the Lassen County Office of Education, and Lassen County Public Health.

They have also extended a hand to Lassen First 5, Sierra Cascade Family Opportunities, and Pheasants Forever.

While the philanthropic impact is a compelling reason to shop at Zaengles, Mark is also quick to point out that supporting the community doesn’t have to come at a premium. In fact, many shoppers find that local prices are actually 10% to 20% lower than those of competitors in larger hubs like Reno or Chico. To ensure their neighbors get the best possible value, Zaengles offers a 100% price guarantee, promising to match any lower price a customer might find elsewhere.

Ultimately, the team at Zaengles views their customers as more than just patrons – they are partners in a cycle of local prosperity. By choosing to shop at Zaengles rather than clicking an order button on a global website, residents are directly funding local youth sports, senior services and community events. As Mark puts it, they simply cannot do it without their friends and neighbors, and every dollar spent in the store is an investment back into this amazing community.
