Biz Buzz: Local Business News for April 9th

By Marshel Couso

Welcome to our weekly feature dedicated to covering Susanville and Lassen County’s business scene! Grand openings, new employees, renovations, new hours… each week we’ll keep you up to date with important information about the businesses you rely on.

Pizza with a Purpose at Lassen Ale Works Boardroom

The charred remains at the former mill site on Riverside Drive stand as a somber reminder of the relentless blaze that tore through a local landmark last week. While the town is deeply grateful that no injuries were reported, the fire left a different kind of wreckage in its wake: the livelihoods of 32 local families.

Since 2014, the historic facility served as the headquarters for Nobles Construction Components, specialists in prefabricated construction materials. In a matter of hours, specialized machinery, raw materials, and—most crucially—the personal tools of the trade were reduced to ash.

The Heart of the Matter: Rebuilding Livelihoods
For the carpenters and craftsmen at NCC, a tool kit is more than just equipment; it is a livelihood built over years of hard work. Many crew members lost their entire personal kits in the fire, leaving them unable to return to work.

The immediate mission for our community is to re-equip these 32 hardworking men and women. By replacing these essential tools, we can ensure these families remain supported and the workforce stays employed while the company begins the long road to recovery.

How You Can Help: Pizza with a Purpose
In a heartwarming display of “neighbors helping neighbors,” Lassen Ale Works at The Boardroom is stepping up to host a community-wide fundraiser to get our craftsmen back on the job.

The event will be held this Saturday, April 11th and all day long a $30 “Support NCC” ticket includes any regular pizza and any two drinks. Half of all ticket proceeds go directly toward helping NCC and its employees with rebuilding efforts.

“For a carpenter, their tools are their life. The goal here is simple: get these tools back into their hands so they can get back to work.”

Get Your Tickets Today
Don’t wait until the day of the event! Tickets are available for purchase now at Sierra Desert Properties, Margie’s Book Nook and at Lassen Ale Works at The Boardroom

Come down on April 11th to share a meal, support our Susanville family, and help Nobles Construction Components rise from the ashes. Every ticket purchased is a direct step toward putting a local craftsman back to work.

Anytime Fitness Susanville

At Anytime Fitness Susanville, the philosophy is simple: a gym is just a room full of equipment without the people who bring it to life.

Recognizing that their members are the true heartbeat of the club, the local fitness hub is set to host a special Member Appreciation Day to honor the energy, sweat and consistency that defines their community.

To say a massive “thank you” to the residents who have made the gym a part of their health journey, the staff is throwing a party dedicated entirely to the members.

The celebration will take place on Thursday, April 16th, from 10:00a.m. to 4:00p.m. at the Anytime Fitness facility in Susanville.

Most importantly, it’s a chance to connect, soak up the good vibes, and mingle with the AF coaching staff and your fellow members in a relaxed atmosphere.

Whether you are planning to crush a heavy leg day or just want to swing by in your street clothes to say hello, the team at Anytime Fitness encourages everyone to stop in.
