Susanville Grocery Outlet
If you haven’t been to Susanville’s Grocery Outlet lately prepare to be impressed! Owner and operators Aaron and Becky Weigel made a whole host of changes inside the midtown market since the couple took over in 2020.
“The number one thing we have taken pride in since day one, is to have the best customer service and to have a clean shopping environment,” explains Becky Weigel.
The store, with its twenty-five friendly employees, was named as the Lassen County Chamber of Commerce’s Business of the Year for 2023 and has received the California Legislator Assembly Certificate of Recognition as Business of the Month.
“We are very proud of our Community sponsorship and donations. As of today, we have given back to the community $114,700.”
Weigel says that their number one focus was their produce department along with removing outdated fixtures, fresh paint throughout the store, new graphics on the walls, new aisle signs and new aisles throughout the store. New checkstands have wider aisles as well.
Even the outside of the store has gotten love with a fresh paint job and a new sign.
Weigel said that future plans include a meat department expansion and relocation of the store’s office to the backroom, freeing up more salesforce space. They also are working to expand the Deli cases to add more gourmet cheeses, charcuterie and chilled wines.
Hilton Heart CPR
Gain the skills and confidence you need to respond effectively in a life-threatening situation by getting your American Heart Association CPR and AED certification with Hilton Heart CPR & First Aid. Owners Jerry and Susan Hilton, along with their expert instructors, will provide comprehensive instruction in CPR and AED usage for adults, infants, and children, ensuring that you’re prepared for any emergency situation.
Their first official class will be this Saturday, August 31st, at 9:00a.m., and will be an American Heart Association BLS course, perfect for first responders, medical professionals, child care providers, and anyone wanting to gain or refresh the skills needed to help save a life.

Owner Jerry Hilton explains why they created their business, “First, having the skills to potentially save someone’s life on what is likely the worst day of their life is, in my opinion, the biggest reason of all. Secondly, there was a lack of available instructors in our community to create new providers and recertify existing providers and medical professionals.”
“Being located in a rural area where there isn’t an overabundance of emergency medical services, the more people that are trained and prepared to act when the need arises will lead to better outcomes for all.”
“The third, and not necessarily final reason is that Susan and I really like being around each other and working together. We feed off of one another well, and feel like we bring a lot to the table with our combined experiences.
