Peterson Cat and Cresco Cat Rentals

Peterson Cat and Cresco Cat Rentals are officially making their home in Susanville, and they are inviting the entire community to celebrate their arrival with an Open House and Grand Opening Celebration on Friday, August 7th.

Local contractors, homeowners, loggers, landscapers and municipal workers are welcome to drop by 3030 Riverside Drive in Susanville between 11:00a.m. and 2:00p.m. Guests can tour the new facility, meet local staff alongside corporate management and enjoy a complimentary lunch served at noon.

Operating together out of the 3030 Riverside Drive location, Peterson Cat and Cresco Cat Rentals offer a full range of heavy equipment services designed to support projects of any size across Lassen and Plumas counties.

Cresco Cat Rentals delivers equipment backed by deep Northern California roots and full Cat dealer resources. Popular rental options range from everyday project essentials—such as scissor lifts, boom lifts, lawn and landscape equipment, and concrete tools—to the complete line of Cat construction machinery. Local crews and DIYers can rent mini excavators, skid steer loaders, wheel loaders, telehandlers, and hydro-mechanical attachments like augers, grapple rakes and hydraulic hammers.

On the sales side, Peterson Cat brings new and used equipment to the area with special financing options through Cat Financial. Machines can be purchased directly from on-the-ground inventory, brought in from other Peterson locations, or ordered straight from Caterpillar to meet precise job specifications.

Family-owned since first opening its doors on November 16th, 1936, Peterson brings nearly nine decades of continuous industry experience to Susanville.

The new shop at 3030 Riverside Drive is open Monday through Friday from 7:00a.m. to 5:00p.m. You can reach the main office directly at 1.530.240.9499, dial option 1 for the rental department, or select option 2 for parts. Be sure to mark your calendar for Friday, August 7th to explore the facility, check out the new equipment, and enjoy a free lunch at noon.

Guess Plumbing & Supply Recognized as Navien “Silver Status” Contractor

There is cause for celebration over at Guess Plumbing and Supply! The local team recently earned official recognition as a Navien Service Specialist Silver Status contractor, marking a major milestone for the business and bringing elevated expertise to homeowners throughout the area.

Achieving NSS Silver status designates a plumbing or HVAC contractor who has reached a high tier of factory-authorized training, unit registration volume, and program benefits within the Navien Rewards structure.

Silver status is unlocked by registering a designated number of Navien tankless water heaters or boilers and confirms active standing as an approved service and installation partner with direct access to specialized factory support channels. In short, it reflects a demonstrated competency in servicing top-tier Navien equipment to ensure home systems run efficiently and effectively.

For the team at Guess Plumbing and Supply, receiving the honor was a proud moment built on dedication, continuous learning, and seamless teamwork.

“What a pleasant surprise! Really proud moment for our team today!” the company shared in an announcement. “Thank you to our technicians for putting in the long days to make these installs look nice and be the most effective for homeowners. Thank you for always being eager to learn and take the steps to further your knowledge base and be able to teach homeowners!”

The company also highlighted the crucial backend effort required to reach this milestone, adding a special note of gratitude to their administrative team.

“Thank you to our dispatcher for submitting the paperwork to get us Navien Service Specialist Status as well as taking on the duty of annoying our technicians to get you those darn serial numbers! This has been an amazing team effort and a long time in the making! We cannot wait to see the continued growth in each and every one of our team members!”

Dapper Dog Grooming Salon Asking for Help with Vandalism Repairs

Serena Sherman, owner of Dapper Dog in uptown Susanville, is reaching out to the community for support following vandalism at her pet grooming shop on North Lassen Street.

Recently, the shop’s front window was shattered by a young boy using a slingshot BB and the unexpected damage has left her struggling to keep up with repair costs alongside existing business expenses.

Sherman said that she opened Dapper Dog when she was just 19 years old, right out of high school, driven by a goal to make her mother proud and build something meaningful for the community. She notes that the shop represents years of hard work and heart, where she treats every client’s dog as if it were her own.

“This shop means everything to me,” Sherman shared, explaining that her goal has always been to provide a safe, welcoming space for local pets and their owners.

To help cover the costs, Sherman has launched a GoFundMe campaign. Donations will go directly toward replacing the shattered window and paying urgent bills to keep the business operating smoothly. Additional funds will help cover necessary security upgrades—including setting up Wi-Fi for security cameras—to ensure the shop remains safe and comfortable for the animals in her care.

Community members wishing to support Dapper Dog can contribute directly through her GoFundMe page to help keep the uptown grooming shop open and serving local pets.
