The Bureau of Land Management, in partnership with the Lassen National Forest and Lassen Land and Trails Trust, has completed work to remove a rockslide that had blocked part of the Bizz Johnson National Recreation Trail since January. The trail is now fully open for public use.
The Lassen National Forest, which jointly manages the trail with the BLM, provided $113,000 through its Resource Advisory Committee to fund both the contract for the removal work and staff support from the Trust to administer the contract.

“This partnership reflects the importance of the Bizz Johnson Trail to our community and our organizations’ common goal in providing quality recreation experiences and public land access,” said Emily Ryan, manager of the BLM Eagle Lake Field Office.
“We are excited to welcome trail users back to the full route.”
The contractor broke apart and removed large boulders left by January’s winter storms and stabilized the hillside to reduce the risk of future rockfalls.
With the slide cleared, visitors once again have uninterrupted access from the Susanville Trailhead to the Devil’s Corral Trailhead and beyond.
