The Bureau of Land Management’s Northern California Resource Advisory Council will convene for a meeting and field tour Wednesday and Thursday, August 26th and 27th, in the conference center at the Oxford Suites, 1967 Hilltop Drive in Redding.
On August 26th, the meeting gets underway at 10:00a.m. Agenda items include introductory topics from the council members and the BLM and an overview of key issues and needs that will be presented to the council in upcoming sessions. Public comments will be accepted at 4:00p.m.
The entire meeting is open to the public. Those unable to attend can participate by teleconference. The toll free conference number is (888) 395-5718, passcode 41634.
On August 27th, the council members convene at 8:00a.m. and depart immediately for a field tour on public lands managed by the BLM Redding Field Office. The group will float a short reach of the Sacramento River and discuss land use planning topics.
Members of the public are welcome. They must provide their own transportation, watercraft, food and beverages.
The advisory council works closely with the BLM and its managers in Redding, Susanville, Alturas and Arcata, advising on all aspects of the agency’s public land management mission in northern California and far northwest Nevada.
The 15 members were appointed by the U. S. secretary of the interior and represent varied interests including recreation, livestock grazing, timber and forest products, environmental organizations, wild horse and burro management, local government, the academic sector, state natural resource agencies and the public at large.
The new board replaces advisory councils previously in place for northeast and northwest California. It will meet several times a year in locations around the BLM district. It is one of 29 BLM resource advisory councils in the western states.
