The Bureau of Land Management Eagle Lake Field Office is seeking public comments on its proposed grant application to the California State Parks Office Highway Motorized Vehicle Recreation Division to help manage off-highway vehicle recreation opportunities on public lands.
Members of the public can comment in writing or provide comments at a public meeting on Thursday, February 16th, at 5:30p.m., at the BLM’s Eagle Lake Field Office, 2950 Riverside Drive in Susanville.
The BLM must receive written and email comments by Thursday, February 23rd. Comments should be mailed to the Eagle Lake Field Office, 2950 Riverside Dr., Susanville, CA 96130, attention: Marisa Williams, or sent by email to [email protected].
Williams, a BLM outdoor recreation planner, said the BLM will use comments to prepare a preliminary application for grant funds that would support law enforcement patrols in off-highway vehicle areas, including the Fort Sage OHV Area near Doyle.
Funds also would be used for operations, development, restoration, trail planning and land acquisition at Fort Sage.
BLM will later announce an opportunity for the public to comment on the preliminary grant request. The agency’s California field offices annually request OHVMR funds to help manage OHV use and provide riding opportunities on BLM-managed public lands throughout the state.
For more information, contact Williams at the BLM Eagle Lake Field Office, (530) 252-5303.
