Opportunities to learn about archaeology and to try out archaeological field work are available June 15th through 19th, when the Bureau of Land Management holds its second annual Archaeology Volunteer Week near Susanville.
Participants will join BLM archaeologists on survey and recording work in the high desert. They will also learn about the history and pre-history of the region.
The BLM will provide free camping and a barbecue celebration to wrap up the week.
For information or to sign up, contact Marilla Martin at the BLM in Susanville, at [email protected]. Space is limited, and early registration is encouraged.
Participants will be required to provide their own camping equipment, food and beverages for the week, and their own transportation. High clearance four-wheel-drive vehicles are recommended. The BLM will provide survey equipment.
