The Susanville Soaring Eagles Blue Star Moms are once again reaching out to the community for support, seeking donations to fill care packages for local men and women serving in all branches of the U.S. military. These packages, sent multiple times a year, aim to provide comfort and a taste of home to those serving far away.
Michelle Davenport, a member of the Susanville Soaring Eagles Blue Star Moms, emphasized the importance of community involvement. “Our next care package for our Troops is fast approaching and we are getting ready to pack boxes for our Military men and women,” said Davenport. “We feel that having our community and businesses in our area help us fill these boxes will show all local Military men and women the Love and support from our community as a whole.”
The organization is a dedicated group of mothers who support their local sons and daughters serving both domestically and overseas. They take pride in their mission to serve those who serve our country.
Davenport highlighted the impact of these gestures. “When we send our packages, we let our Military know who helped provide the donations. This lets those receiving this care packages know that their home town community cares.”
The Blue Star Moms are currently seeking specific items to fill approximately 54 care packages for local military members. The requested items include:
- 54 individual size Teddy Grahams
- 108 individual packages Hot Cereal (Oatmeal or Cream of Wheat)
- 54 Breakfast drink Mix
- 54 small packages Sunflower Seeds
The deadline for contributions is October 1st. For those wishing to donate, the Blue Star Moms are happy to pick up contributions.
