Bob and Garnie Pinneo – February and November 2021

Robert Ellwood Pinneo (Bob) was born May 27, 1930, to Oscar and Blanche Pinneo, and was called to Heaven on February 2, 2021. A private memorial service was held for Bob on May 22, 2021.

Growing up, Bob was always horseback with a rope in hand. As a teenager, he began competing in rodeos, and at the age of 18, he joined the Professional Cowboys Rodeo Association (PRCA) and qualified for the National Finals Rodeo in the team roping in 1965. He continued roping and rodeoing for many years and even saw great success into his older years as he competed in the National Senior Pro Rodeo Association.

Bob was a veteran and proudly served in the Korean War. He was a hard worker, funny, smart, handy, and lover of all things roping and horses. He was a great family man and friend and was admired by many.

Garneth Rae Pinneo (Garnie) was born August 11, 1931, to Ches and Hilda Long, and was called to Heaven on November 30, 2021.

Garnie grew up around horses as well and enjoyed riding jumping horses. She also thoroughly enjoyed studying horse bloodlines.

Bob and Garnie were high school sweethearts, and married at the ages of 19 and 18, respectively.

They raised three children together – Ronda, Ginger, and Rob – and were married for an astounding 70 years.

Garnie loved going to rodeos and ropings with Bob and their kids for many years, and she thoroughly enjoyed supporting them in all of their endeavors, which continued into their retirement years when Bob was going to Senior Pro Rodeos. You could find her at every rodeo or roping with a clipboard and pencil in hand, keeping every single time there was with complete accuracy.

Garnie worked with numbers her entire career. She was an excellent bookkeeper and had high standards for the work she did. She retired from the Lassen County Office of Education with 30+ years of service, where she made many friendships and a lasting impact.

Garnie was as close to a perfect human being you’ve ever met. With a heart of pure gold, she was always putting others ahead of herself. She was smart, sweet, and the most genuine person. To know her was to love her, and there will never be another like her.

A funeral service for Garnie will be held on December 11, 2021, at the Janesville Cemetery, where Bob and Garnie will be laid to rest together.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents Oscar and Blanche Pinneo, sister Margaret, and son-in-law Joe Fitzgerald.

Garnie was preceded in death by her parents Ches and Hilda Long, sister and brother-in-law Janice and Dale Flux, husband Bob, son-in-law Joe Fitzgerald, and son Rob.

Bob and Garnie are survived by their daughters, Ronda Mallery (Fred), and Ginger Fitzgerald; 6 grandchildren – Boomer, Shawna, Bobby, Ross, Katy, and Jake; 11, (soon 12) great-grandchildren – Stuart, Devin, Garrett, Justin, Dylan, Mallery, Braiden, Danni, Logan, Seamus and Tucker; 4 great-great-grandchildren – Scarlett, Sophia, Kinsley, and Angel; and many nieces and nephews.

Bob and Garnie will be greatly missed by all who loved them.
