Breaking: Fire Crews Responding to Vegetation Fire in Ranch Park

According to Cal-FIRE mapping shows the fire was stopped at 259 acres and is 15% contained.

The Evacuation Order has been reduced to a Warning for Zone: LAS-225 and the Evacuation Warnings have been Lifted for Zones: LAS-221 & LAS-217.

Updated 8:48p.m.
The forward progress of the fire has been stopped at 125 acres and fire retardant has now been dropped on fire lines surrounding the fire.

Aircraft have been sent home from the fire for the evening.

Some resources are being released from the fire as crews begin mop up on the interior of the fire’s perimeter.

Updated 7:29p.m. Some air resources are being released as fire fighters gain the upper hand on the fire.

Updated 6:15p.m. The fire is now at 100 acres.

SEMSA is reminding residents not to fly drones in the area. Flying drones impedes the air attack efforts and puts aircraft in danger.

Updated 6:10p.m. The California Highway Patrol is pleading with the large number of people who have stopped their cars to watch the fire burn.

“Go home!” the CHP says, “Let emergency vehicles get to the fire and help evacuate people! Don’t be a part of the problem!”

Updated 5:41p.m. Additional water tenders, engines and crews have been ordered and are on their way from agencies in surrounding areas.

Eight more air tankers are on order.

Lassen County Sheriff’s Deputies are going door to door in the area affected warning residents to get out.

Aircraft are beginning to set up for structure protection.

The Lassen County Sheriff’s Office has implemented a mandatory evacuation for residences in the Upper Rancheria north of town. Here is a link to zonehaven for current evacuation information.

Updated 5:19p.m. Traffic is being diverted at Paiute and Valley Vista. Both Lassen County Sheriff’s Office and Susanville Police Department are providing traffic control.

Updated 5:12p.m. Aircraft have arrived and are beginning their assault on the fire.

Crews from around the northstate are being sent towards the Susanville area to help fight the fire.

According to eyewitnesses the fire is burning eastward across the hill behind Ranch Park.

Firefighters from multiple agencies across the valley are responding to a vegetation fire in the Ranch Park area near Paiute Lane in Susanville.

The fire is approximately half an acre in size at this time. Resources are currently arriving on scene.

Additional resources are on order including two air tankers.

Please avoid the area and allow emergency crews to work safely.
