
Brian Blaine Anderson, age 66, of Susanville, California passed away on April 24, 2026. Brian was born on September 19, 1959, in Vallejo, California to Richard and Mary Ellen Anderson. He graduated from Sacramento State University in 1983 with a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice. He started his career as a Correctional Counselor at the California Youth Authority. In 1987, he was hired as a Correctional Counselor at the California Correctional Center (CCC) in Susanville. He worked Sierra Yard, Lassen Yard, and the AD-Seg building prior to his final assignment to the Camp Division. He enjoyed working with the camp staff and interjacencies, including Cal Fire. He would continue in this role until 2012 and retired after nearly 30 years of service.
Brian loved the outdoors, enjoying fly fishing and hunting throughout Lassen County. He frequented Baum, Eagle, and Pyramid Lakes. He was easily spotted, being accompanied by one of his black labradors (BJ, Shadow, Teal or Susie). He was an avid bow hunter, landing one for the record books in 2004. Brian loved sharing his passion of fishing and hunting, especially with his daughter Katie.
Brian is survived by his daughter Katie Anderson and brother Gary (Lisa) Anderson, niece Jordan Anderson and nephew Zac Anderson. He was preceded in death by his father, Richard Anderson and mother, Mary Ellen Anderson.
A celebration of Brian’s life will be announced at a later date and time. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Brian’s memory to the Annual Junior Fishing Derby.
