Public Safety Chief Michael Bengoa-Bollinger has announced that he will suspend all burn permits and open burning in the City of Susanville effective immediately.
The suspension bans all residential outdoor burning of landscape debris, branches, leaves, and any other type of open burning.
“This declaration of suspension of all burn permits has come to fruition after a wet winter and above-average snowpack, warmer temperatures, and winds are quickly drying out the abundant annual grass crop,” explains Bengoa-Bollinger.
