Caltrans Holding Workshop for Sustainable Transportation Planning Grants

Caltrans, District 2, is hosting a workshop to assist eligible organizations with the grant application process for its Sustainable Transportation Planning Grant Program. The virtual event will take place on Thursday, September 25th, from 1:00 to 2:00p.m. via Webex.

The workshop will provide valuable information on how to obtain a portion of the approximately $22 million in available grant funding. These grants are designed to support local and regional transportation projects that align with state goals to strengthen the economy, promote equity, and protect the environment.

Grant funding sources include:

  • Sustainable Communities (Competitive and Formula)
  • Climate Adaptation Planning
  • Strategic Partnerships
  • Strategic Partnerships – Transit

Past grant recipients in the region have used this funding for a variety of projects, including the Modoc County Active and Multimodal Transportation Plan, the Plumas County Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure Master Plan and the Siskiyou County Evacuation and Preparedness Plan.

Who is Eligible to Apply?
A wide range of organizations can apply for these grants, either as a primary or sub-applicant.

Sustainable Communities
Primary Applicants: Metropolitan Planning Organizations (MPOs) with sub-applicants, Regional Transportation Planning Agencies (RTPAs), Transit Agencies, Cities and Counties, Native American Tribal Governments, and other Public Transportation Planning Entities.

Sub-Applicants: MPOs, RTPAs, Transit Agencies, Cities and Counties, Native American Tribal Governments, Universities and Community Colleges, Community-Based Organizations, Non-Profit Organizations, and other Public Entities.

Strategic Partnerships & Strategic Partnerships (Transit)
Primary Applicants: MPOs, RTPAs, and Transit Agencies.

Sub-Applicants: MPOs, RTPAs, Transit Agencies, Universities and Community Colleges, Native American Tribal Governments, Cities and Counties, Community-Based Organizations, Non-Profit Organizations, and other Public Entities.
