Camp Fire Rages in Butte County: Here Are Some Ways You Can Help

Nine people are confirmed dead tonight and nearly 7,000 homes and businesses have been destroyed by the Camp Fire that continues to grow in Butte County, leaving a path of destruction that has all but completely wiped out the beautiful town of Paradise.

These are our neighbors, in a town very much like the town we live in, in a situation we could easily find ourselves in one day. Because of this a lot of you have reached out to us today asking if we know how or where to contribute to victims of the Camp Fire.

Local groups and organizations who are putting together fundraisers or collecting items for residents of Paradise can let us know by emailing the information at [email protected]. We will help get the word out and let people know.

If you know of a group working for victims in Paradise please direct them to us so we can get them on our calendar.

There are already several local drives underway and we will post information about those shortly.

One thing you can do is connect with organizations whose resources are already being put to use.

Organizations

  • The American Red Cross: Visit redcross.org, call 1-800-RED CROSS or text the word REDCROSS to 90999 to make a $10 donation.
  • The Salvation Army: A special page, SalArmyCampFire.org, has been created to accept donations. People can also call 1-800-SAL-ARMY (725-2769) and specify “Camp Fire” for designated funds.
  • United Way of Northern California: A fund to provide emergency help to fire victims has been set up. Visit the fundraising web page or text BUTTEFIRE to 91999 to donate.
  • North Valley Community Foundation Camp Fire Evacuation Relief Fund: Visit their page here.
