The 12th annual Northern California Cancer Advocates golf tournament is being called a big success by organizers who held their annual fundraiser at the Diamond Mountain Golf Course August 31st, raising money for Cancer Fighters in Lassen and Plumas counties.
With 144 golfers and a whole host of folks who came out to the clubhouse for lunch and the raffle, the NCCA raised an impressive $38,800 during the one-day event.
“We have a great team of volunteers (about 20) who made this day happen by gathering donations and raffle items, grilling brats and chorizos, selling raffle tickets, brewing bloody Mary’s and mimosas, designing flags and memorial signs, advertising, accounting for our funds, and many other tasks. It’s incredible to watch it all come together,” says Shelley Bennett, one of the event organizers.
“We want to thank the Lassen College softball team for helping set up that morning. We also had help from the Lassen High School drill team, ASB student volunteers, and Miss Lassen County and court and Kolby Loflin who is our power driver on hole twelve.”
The group also thanked all the golfers and their team sponsors, the people who donated amazing prizes to the raffle and the businesses that have continued to support us over the years
The NCCA is a California 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization operating out of Lassen and Plumas Counties with the intent to provide people suffering from cancer with support and guidance during their time of need.
