More than 20 homes in the Caughlin Ranch section of Reno were destroyed by a wind-driven inferno that is still raging at this hour southwest of Reno.
The Reno Gazette Journal is reporting that Reno Fire Chief Michael Hernandez confirmed at least 20 homes were lost this morning.

According to the Gazette’s report the fire, estimated to be about 400 acres, has broken up into two large sections: One in the Manzanita-Skyline area and the other in the foothills near Windy Hill.

Channel 4 in Reno is reporting that no containment is in site because of winds expected throughout the day. Shelters are overflowing at Galena high school and Reno High School.
