The Lassen Community College Public Safety Training Center has scheduled its first CCW Firearms Refresher Course (AJ52BR) of the year for Saturday, April 18th.
This comprehensive eight-hour session, led by POST Director Tom Downing, is designed for anyone seeking to recertify their California CCW permit. Running from 8:00a.m. to 5:00p.m., the course covers essential topics including firearms ownership, maintenance, and shooting principles, and features hands-on instruction at the range.
The total cost for the course is $50.63, which covers enrollment, materials and the required range fee. Beyond the training itself, students will earn 0.5 units of college credit through Lassen Community College.
Attendance Requirements and Materials
To participate, students must provide valid evidence of California firearms eligibility prior to starting the enrollment process. On the day of the course, attendees should arrive at the Highway 139 campus in Susanville prepared with their handgun(s) and a belt-mounted, outside-the-waistband holster.
Ammunition requirements include a minimum of 60 rounds of factory ammo for your primary weapon and 40 rounds for any additional handguns.
Safety is a priority, so eye and ear protection are mandatory. Additionally, because the day includes time outdoors, students are asked to wear weather-appropriate clothing – specifically long pants and closed-toe shoes – and bring note-taking materials, water, snacks and a folding chair for use at the range.
