Faculty, staff and Administration at Lassen Community College celebrated the institution’s 100th anniversary Tuesday as part of convocation activities to kick off the 2025 Spring Semester.
The college began in 1925 when the Junior College Department of Lassen High School was established. A separate facility was created in 1941 with the remodeling of a Main Street garage into a classroom building.
In 1945, because of increasing enrollment, a new building was built adjacent to the high school.
Lassen entered its modern era in March 1965 when it established the Lassen Community College district and separated from the high school.
The new campus on Highway 139 was dedicated in September of 1971.
