The Chamber board will meet on Thursday, December 8, 2011, for the monthly board meeting beginning at noon, at Diamond Mountain Casino, in the Hotel Conference Room, Susanville.
The board encourages public attendance and comment; if you would like to address the board please contact the office staff prior to the board meeting so that you can be added to the agenda.
The December agenda will include updates from committees, including the Magical Country Christmas and Annual Dinner Committees, nomination and election of 2012 board officers, as well as routine business items.
Lassen Rural Bus is holding a “Stuff the Bus” drive that began on November 27th thru December 10th.
Non perishable food items, toys, and new clothing items may be deposited in one of the collection barrels located at participating businesses or in a bag located on any of the Lassen Rural Buses. Free rides will be offered to anyone making a donation on the bus on Wednesday, December 7th.
The Lassen Business and Career Network, in partnership with the Lassen County Department of Health and Social Services, have funding available to assist with the cost of hiring employees.
Lassen “Hire Now” funding is available to private employers in Lassen County for hourly wage reimbursement of up to 50% per employee. In addition you can receive assistance with recruitment and screening of qualified job candidates, and individual support for both the employer and the employee. Small businesses that are in the LMUD’s service area may qualify for free energy audits, efficient lighting, and refrigeration upgrades thru LMUD’s “Smart Business” program. To find out more details about the program contact LMUD’s Energy Services Manager, Theresa Phillips, at 257-6944.
Alliance for Workforce Development, in partnership with the Lassen County Economic Development Micro-Enterprise Grant Program, is offering Lassen County entrepreneurs and small businesses the opportunity to prosper from customized free training services.
One-on-one assistance, group workshops, and technical assistance is available specific to your business needs. To participate, Lassen County businesses need to have 5 or fewer employees (including owners) and meet income eligibility requirements.
Samples of assistance include, but are not limited to, advertising/marketing, time management, business planning, bookkeeping/QuickBooks, and customer service.

Lassen Volcanic National Park will be having ranger-led snowshoe walks every Saturdays and Sundays, 1:30 p.m., starting from the Kohm Yah-mah-nee Visitor Center, beginning December 17, 2011 thru April 8, 2012.
