Patti Hagata, Executive Director

Alliance For Workforce Development, in partnership with the Lassen County Economic Development Micro-Enterprise Grant Program, is offering entrepreneurs and small businesses that are located in Lassen County the opportunity to prosper from customized free training services.

The technical assistance is available specific to your business needs. One-on-one assistance and group workshops will be offered.

The business needs to have 5 or fewer employees (including owners) to participate and meet income eligibility requirements. More information on the Next Step Business Development Training visit: http://www.afwdhr.org or contact Terri Hiser-Haynes at 257-5057.

Samples of assistance include, but are not limited to, Advertising and Marketing, Time Management, Business Planning, bookkeeping and QuickBooks, and Customer Service.

In an effort to lower the impact of bad check crime on businesses the Lassen County District Attorney’s Bad Check Program is available to help with recovery of bad checks.

If you have received a bad check and would like to take advantage of this service stop by the Chamber or the DA’s office to pick up a copy of the Bad Check Report Form. Bad check writers will face immediate criminal prosecution once the report and corroborating bank records are received.

Also available is important information on how to process a bad check and procedures you can utilize to help avoid problems. Contact Paula at the District Attorney’s Office at 251-8358 for more information about the program.

The Lassen County Economic Development Department has two financing programs available to local small businesses. The “Business Assistance Program” offers attractive financing to both existing and startup businesses that can create or retain jobs.

The “Micro-Enterprise Program” provides affordable financing for businesses with less than 5 employees. This program offers low interest loans, as well as grants for technical assistance. For more information visit www.lassenbizinfo.com and look for Economic Development Revolving Loan Fund or contact Jenna at 251-2683.
