Susanville Police Chief Tom Downing is inviting residents to a special community forum next Wednesday to share their views on the formation of a proposed medical marijuana cultivation ordinance within the city limits. The meeting will be held at the City Council chambers located at 66 N. Lassen St. on September 10th, from 6:00 to 7:30 and Chief Downing is hoping to hear as many viewpoints as possible during the discussion.
“I am looking forward to having a public dialog,” said Downing, “and I am hoping that citizens, both for and against regulating medical marijuana cultivation will come out and express their opinions.”
Downing explained that his goal in seeking public comments is to create, “an ordinance that is both enforceable and acceptable to the majority of the citizenry.”
After receiving comments Chief Downing will craft an amended ordinance and present it to the City Council. No decision will be made at the September 10th meeting.
