Plumas National Forest will be sponsoring a Children’s Fishing Derby at Antelope Lake Saturday, September 9th featuring fishing contests, prizes, arts and crafts, educational and cultural activities and snacks. It’s a terrific way to get out and enjoy fishing and camping at one of the prettiest little lakes in northeastern California.
The event is for kids under the age of 15 and is co-sponsored by the Department of Water Resources, the California Department of Fish and Wildlife and Royal Elk Park Management.
Registration for the free fishing derby is at 8:00a.m. at the Lost Cove boat ramp. If you are fishing in a location other than the boat ramp you can register at 7:45 at Lost Cove and then drive to your fishing spot.
Only non-motorized boats will be allowed during the derby.
Derby prizes will be awarded at 11:45 and the derby ends at noon.
