Officers from the California Highway Patrol and Susanville Police Department will be conducting a sobriety and driver’s license checkpoint at an undisclosed location within the Susanville city limits tonight, August 30th.
The goal is to ensure the safe passage of each and every motorist by targeting roads where there is a high frequency of drunk driving.
According to the CHP sobriety checkpoints are a proven, effective tool and is designed to augment existing patrol operations.
All vehicles will be checked and drivers who are under the influence of alcohol or drugs can expect to be arrested. The object is to send a clear message to those considering mixing alcohol or drugs with driving that the CHP and Susanville Police Department will be keeping an eye out for you.
Officers will also be checking the status of driver licenses. For those drivers who are driving with suspended or expired licenses, enforcement action will be taken and your vehicle will be towed.
