The California Highway Patrol has released details of a February 28th, single-vehicle collision that occurred on Highway 395 North near the Secret Valley Rest Area and sent an Alturas man to Banner Lassen Medical Center with minor injuries.
According to the CHP report, 49-year old Alturas resident John Lee Ramos was traveling southbound on 395 just south of the Secret Valley Rest Area in a 2006 Buick Ranier at a speed of 60-miles per hour when he fell asleep and allowed his vehicle to drift to the left across the northbound lane and off the roadway.
The vehicle then struck a dirt embankment and rolled several times before coming to rest on car’s left side, blocking the northbound lane of the highway.
Ramos was transported to Banner Lassen Hospital by ambulance where he was treated for minor injuries and subsequently arrested for driving under the influence.
He was booked into the Lassen County Adult Detention Facility.
