A 61-year old Sacramento man sustained minor injuries in an electric bike crash at Lake Almanor Saturday afternoon according to details released by the Susanville Office of the California Highway Patrol.
Shortly after 3:30p.m., a man identified by the CHP as Jeffrey Aran was riding an Electric Bike Company electric bicycle eastbound on Osprey Loop, approaching Maidu Drive at Lake Almanor West at an unknown speed.
According to witnesses, the man’s ball cap was blown off by the wind and when he applied the brakes of the bicycle to retrieve the ball cap, the front wheel locked up and he was ejected forward from the bicycle.
The driver was not wearing a bicycle helmet and was transported to Enloe for minor injuries.
Alcohol or drugs are not considered a factor in this collision according to the CHP report.
