A Sparks, Nevada resident was arrested by the California Highway Patrol near Milford on November 13th, for allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol and failing to remain at the scene of an accident until law enforcement arrived.
According to the report, shortly before 1:00p.m. the driver of a 2007 Toyota Scion, identified by the CHP as 23-year old Jeremiah Shinneman, was driving northbound on US-395, south of Lounsbury Road at an unknown speed when, due to his unsafe turning movement, coupled with his level of impairment, he lost control of the Toyota and left the roadway along the east shoulder of the highway.
Shinneman’s Toyota struck and knocked down two paddle markers and 130-feet of barbed wire fence.
“Shinneman is suspected of driving while under the influence of alcohol,” explains CHP Public Information Officer Bruce Thuelchassaigne.
“Upon CHP arrival, officers observed the Toyota Scion, heavily damaged, with a flat right front tire, at the scene of the traffic collision.”
Shinneman was still in the vehicle and subsequently fled the scene northbound on US-395. Officers located the Toyota in a driveway approximately one-half mile north of the traffic collision scene.
“Shinneman admitted to driving, failing to remain on scene until law enforcement arrival, and did not attempt to contact a property owner concerning the damage caused by his vehicle.”
According to Thuelchassaigne, the driver displayed objective signs and symptoms of alcohol intoxication and admitted to consuming alcohol prior to driving.
He was subsequently arrested for the charges of driving under the influence of alcohol and hit and run.
